Although I would not normally post something that is such a long drive from the airport, I make an exception to the rule with Calypso's. This restaurant is at MM 100 - about 55 miles north of the airport so you are going to need a car. It is located off the main drag, ocean side at the boat basin. Their specialty is called "Butter Pecan Fish" - you can choose from the various fish of the day. We usually got the snapper or some version thereof. The fish is coconut crusted with a butter pecan sauce. For side dishes, I recommend the deep fried corn on the cob (I got double corn) or the black beans and rice. Bring cash as they do not accept anything but cash, although there is an ATM machine right there on the premises.

I make this exception to the rule as this was my husband's favorite restaurant and one of the last places that he ate before he passed away a few weeks ago. He would have been disappointed had I not taken the time to post Calypso's for all to try.

On the way back south from Calypso's, stop at the Key Lime Tree shop, ocean side around MM 95 and get a frozen Key Lime Pie on a Stick. This was his favorite dessert and literally was THE last thing he ever ate.
