Although I would not normally post something that is such a long drive from the airport, I make an exception to the rule with Calypso's. This restaurant is at MM 100 - about 55 miles north of the airport so you are going to need a car. It is located off the main drag, ocean side at the boat basin. Their specialty is called "Butter Pecan Fish" - you can choose from the various fish of the day. We usually got the snapper or some version thereof. The fish is coconut crusted with a butter pecan sauce.
Michelbob's

Michelbob's is just off the airport grounds and you can walk there if you want but the FBO will arrange to get you there and back without a problem - they are used to the trip. Michelbob's is known for the ribs - you can get something else but why would you?

A unique event focusing on Light Sport Aircraft and the Sport Pilot Certificate. 2009 will mark the 5th time we have held this growing, internationally recognized event. In 2008 we had nearly 150 exhibitors with virtually every LSA in the USA market on exhibit and giving demonstration flights.
The Expo is the place to see, try, buy and sell Light Sport Aircraft, and is the event at which to establish new business relationships and learn about LSA and Sport Pilot Certificate and other LSA related certifications. This was the inaugural event and is the only US event of its size, totally focused on LSA and Sport Pilot!
As in past years, the Expo will bring together manufacturers of LSA aircraft and kits, providers of related components, firms providing training and people with possible business interests in this exciting new field.

Great lunch spot in downtown St Petersburg area. We stopped on a Sunday afternoon. The place was not too crowded; the service was good and the food was excellent. They have fresh grouper, right off the boat. Serving sizes were huge for a sandwich. We also had the smoked fish spread - you have to ask as it is not on the menu, but, boy, was it good!

Great location near the airport. Continental breakfast include. The facility is alos located next to a small shopping center with lots of restaurants nearby - sit down and fast food - as well as shopping and stuff to do. There is a small fitness center and highspeed wireless. A good value.
