Captain Jack's

Calico Jack's is on Elbow Cay - It requires a ferry to get there and is really only good if you are staying on the Cay overnight (which I recommend) It is a little place right on the water in town. A lot of locals and non-locals mix here. Typical island fare at a reasonable cost.

Harbor's Edge

Harbor's Edge is just like the name says - it actually is built over the harbor. This is on Elbow Cay so you will need to take a ferry from the mainland and I probably would not do it unless I planned on staying on the island at least one night - which I definitely recommend!

This restaurant had burned down the first time I was there but fortunately it was up and running when I went the second, third, etc. times. They have the best conch burger in the islands so far and it is great to relax on the deck while you eat your meal..

Elbow Cay is off the mainland of Marsh Harbour. You have to take a ferry there - it is about a 20 minute ride. It was a $12 cab ride to the ferry dock and $10 per person for the ferry. Marsh Harbour is more of a city but even as you get close to Elbow Cay you know it is different. You see a candy striped lighthouse and bright Victorian style homes along the harbor. This is one of my favorite places to stay in the Bahamas. It has some nightlife and all the privacy you want..

Hope Town Harbour Lodge

Review:

I have stayed at the Hope Town Harbour Lodge several times. The people are great there and the location is great - right in town. You need to fly into Marsh Harbour and then take a ferry to Elbow Cay. I think the owner is an old New Englander and this entire island has a New England feel to it - in the tropics! December can be a little cool and windy there but May and the summer usually warm up and the weather is perfect.

http://www.treasurecay.com/ There is never a bad time to go to the Bahamas. We took a quickie weekend around Easter last year and this place was fantastic. A little ride from the airport - you will need a cab - but once you get to the resort, there is no reason to leave. There are restaurants on the premises, relaxation, diving, a marina and loads of white sand beaches. We came back well rested and sunburned!

This is the beach bar at the Treasure Cay Beach Resort. It is right on the beach and the people were great to talk to. The food was good and the view was beautiful. It is quite a distance from the airport- about a 15 minutes cab ride, which is why I give it a 3.

We stayed one night at the Treasure Cay resort and then immediately bounced over to Green Turtle Cay. The people were very nice here and we had a room overlooking the harbor but it was not a quaint as we expect the Bahamas to be. This place caters a little more to the boater but you can still get a 20% pilot discount on your stay.

we stayed at the resort and had lunch and dinner in their screened in porch. The food was all delicious and the resort has a great bar in the club and at the pool.

I only rated this a 4 because it is a long trip from the airport and therefore not really a fly-in meal, but definitely worth the time if you want to spend a couple of days in the cays.

To get to the Green Turtle Club and Marina you have to fly into Treasure Cay and then take a ferry to Green Turtle Key. we flew in and rented a Golf Cart in Town (New Plymouth) It is a great little island and the resort was Beautiful. It is a higher end resort/marina and rooms can vary greatly in price. We had a room overlooking the water with a screened in porch.

The food here is also great, (reviewed separately) and it is a great place to stay!

Review:

This is the restaurant at the Treasure Cay Beach Hotel. The dinner was kind of funny. We ordered the Coquille St Jaques and at seemed to be a single bay scallop sliced up and the placed over mashed potatoes. Not very good.

For the entree we split the Bahamian chicken and that was good. Overall I rated this low because of the poor food but the service was nice and the people were very friendly.
