Staying on Grace Bay

I have flown to Turks and Caicos with my family several times. This is a beautiful location it is far enough away from the mainland that you do not get a lot of the Miami crowd and some areas are still pristine. Grace Bay is one of the most beautiful and long beaches in the Caribbean. There is now a lot of construction in some areas so check before you go so that you do not awake to the sounds of jackhammers. There are good restaurants and a reasonable amount of night life close by the beach.

Island Flight was GREAT! We have been there a couple of times and everything has always gone smoothly. Deb at the desk has always been able to get us a great hotel room with the FBO discount and a car when we land. They handle Customs and Immigration smoothly and we always breeze through in a few minutes. These are definitely the guys to deal with when you land.

The FBO set up this reservation for us when we arrived in the Turks. It is mostly a time-share type place and the rooms were fine. Each usually has a kitchen so you can prepare your own food if you want. The grounds and pool were clean and most important it is directly on Grace Bay Beach. The Happy hour at Ocean Club East seemed more happening but East seemed like a nicer place to stay.

Hemingway's is in the Sands Resort right on the beach in Grace Bay. I have stayed at the reort and others. This is a great little barefoot place for lunch. You can order your conch fritters and then run directly into the ocean. The staff has always been friendly and the food and drinks are good.

Bambooz

Bambooz is right on the strip by Grace Bay - This place is primarily a night club and I only went in for a drink to check it out. It looks like it gets pretty busy at night but I would do my eating elsewhere.
Bambooz Bar & Grill offers a dance floor, pool table, and large-screen TVs for sports.

Danny Buoys

Danny Buoys is a "Irish" bar right along the strip in Grace Bay. The interior is Irish and we met a lot of transient yachters who were transporting or working on ships from Australia and beyond. We had some apps but I think this place is better suited for just plain old drinking.

Caicos Cafe

The Caicos Cafe is located in Grace Bay right on the main drag. Everyone kept telling us to go there and we were very happy. This is one of those irresistible places that gets under your skin; it's a favorite among locals, but visitors also find the warm, romantic ambience and consistently delicious food hard to resist. It's set on the terrace deck of what appears to be a Caribbean cottage with gingerbread trim, gaily illuminated with strings of twinkling lights and flaming torches. Colorful Haitian artwork blankets the walls.

Calico Jack's

Calico Jack's is located in the upper floor of a strip mall on the beach. The wings were nice and spicy and so was the female bartender. We have been to this place a couple of times because we liked the crowd and food. It is a family place and has outside seating.
