Lufthansa Flights and Booking Help

Compare Lufthansa flights and fares

Comparing Lufthansa flights booking means looking beyond the first fare on the screen. The right option depends on your departure airport, connection in Germany, baggage and how likely your plans are to change. A short European flight booked separately can also have different inclusions from your long-haul ticket.

Share your US departure city, destination, dates and cabin preference. We can help compare an itinerary to Germany or an onward trip, with the fare conditions and extras considered together.

Lufthansa routes and connections

Frankfurt (FRA) and Munich (MUC) are key points to consider when planning a Lufthansa journey. The airline’s USA-to-Germany listings include route options such as Boston–Frankfurt and Boston–Munich.

  • Compare arrival in Frankfurt with arrival in Munich.
  • For onward travel, check the total journey to your final city.
  • Read the operating airline on every flight; a Lufthansa-sold itinerary can include another carrier.
  • Check whether a rail segment, airport change or separate ticket is part of the offer.

Use your intended travel dates when checking schedules. Destination listings are not confirmation that every option operates nonstop, daily or on your chosen day. Compare with other available itineraries only after including the same bags and seating needs.

Lufthansa cancellations and refunds

Check whether your fare is refundable

Lufthansa calculates voluntary refunds according to the fare conditions and any travel already used. Review the terms in your booking confirmation and its cancellation and refund guidance. Do not assume that every Economy or Business fare returns the full ticket price.

Use the original booking provider

For an agency-issued ticket, contact the agency that sold it. If that was Flying Getaway, provide the booking reference and identify the passengers and flights affected. Ask for the expected Lufthansa refund and any deductions before approving cancellation.

Separate a schedule change from a voluntary cancellation

If Lufthansa changes your itinerary, review the notice before deciding what to do. Ask which rebooking or refund options apply to that disruption. Keep the original itinerary and the airline notification so the request can be assessed against the correct circumstances.

Changing your Lufthansa booking

Check the current fare, not an old comparison

Lufthansa’s US fee guidance allows rebooking of Economy Light with a fee and any applicable fare difference. A blanket statement that all Light tickets can never be changed is therefore unreliable. Confirm the rule for your ticket and market.

Compare the full replacement cost

A change-fee waiver does not necessarily remove a higher fare. Request one total that includes repricing and any affected extras. Check the cabin on short connections as well as the long-haul flight before accepting the revised itinerary.

Verify passenger details and seats

Contact the original seller promptly about a name mismatch. After any permitted change, check travel dates, airport codes, passenger details and seating. If you selected an aircraft for Allegris, recheck the seat map on the replacement flight.

Lufthansa cabins and fare options

Fare bundles and cabins are different choices. These cards highlight the main comparisons; inclusions depend on market, ticket conditions and the aircraft operating each segment.

Economy Basic in Europe

On short- and medium-haul services, Basic generally includes a personal item only. Check eligibility exceptions and added baggage costs before choosing this fare for a separate European flight.

Economy Light

A more restrictive Economy fare. On long-haul journeys, compare checked-bag costs and change conditions with the next available fare before deciding which offers better value.

Other Economy fares

Compare the bundles offered for your market. Check bags, advance seats and flexibility individually; similarly named fares on different routes can have different conditions.

Premium Economy

A separate long-haul cabin. Verify its availability on the selected aircraft and compare the fare bundle, including baggage and change rules.

Business Class

Compare the long-haul seat and connecting-flight cabin. Allegris is offered on selected services, and premium fare bundles can have different inclusions.

First Class

Available on selected aircraft and routes. Confirm the cabin on every relevant segment and the services included in the quoted fare.

Tips for comparing Lufthansa flight deals

Compare Frankfurt and Munich

Use the complete itinerary to judge each connection. Consider the arrival time at your final destination rather than choosing a hub solely by the first flight price.

Add checked baggage first

If you need a suitcase, compare Light plus the bag against a fare that includes it. Keep the same luggage needs throughout the comparison.

Check European add-ons

A separately purchased short-haul Basic fare may include only a personal item. Do not carry your long-haul allowance over to a different ticket by assumption.

Verify Allegris explicitly

If the cabin product is a reason for booking, check the flight and seat map. A Lufthansa flight number or Business label alone does not confirm Allegris.

Questions about Lufthansa flights

Does Lufthansa Economy Light include checked baggage?

Do not assume it does. Compare the baggage allowance shown for your route and fare, then add any suitcase you need to the total. The booking-specific allowance is more useful than a generic Economy description.

Long-haul Economy and Premium Economy allow one cabin bag up to 8 kg and 55 × 40 × 23 cm, plus a personal item up to 40 × 30 × 15 cm. Short- and medium-haul Economy Basic generally includes only the personal item, with specified status exceptions. Check the official carry-on rules.

Some Light tickets can be rebooked with a fee and any higher fare. Check the current conditions for your ticket instead of relying on an older guide. Your original seller can confirm the total cost.

Only selected services have Lufthansa Allegris. Check the advertised cabin and seat map for your specific flight, and review them again after any aircraft change.
