Whether you can get a refund for a Turkish Airlines flight depends on your ticket, when you cancel and whether the airline disrupted your journey. Start by identifying your situation, then review the available outcome before confirming cancellation.

Keep your ticket receipt and any schedule-change message nearby. This guide helps you ask the right questions; the amount offered for your actual booking is what you need to check.

A useful first question is: “Am I requesting an ordinary voluntary cancellation, or responding to a change made by the airline?” Save that distinction with your request.

Can you cancel within 24 hours for a full refund?

Turkish Airlines’ online 24-hour refund offer covers eligible tickets purchased on its website or mobile app. Its detailed conditions require a request within 24 hours of purchase and at least 168 hours before the first flight at the time of the refund request.

  • The ticket must be unused.
  • Previously changed tickets, requests after a name change and tickets issued with Hold the Price are excluded.
  • Tickets affected by flight disruptions follow a separate process.
  • Additional services, such as seats and pet transportation, are excluded from this offer.
  • Award tickets follow the same eligibility conditions.

The departure gap is measured from your refund request. Do not assume that being seven days away when you purchased is sufficient. The 24-hour window is a cancellation eligibility deadline, not a promise that the money will appear in your bank account within a day.

How much is the Turkish Airlines cancellation fee?

There is no single fee to quote for every ticket. Turkish’s fare rules distinguish domestic and international products. International branded fares, including EcoFly, ExtraFly, FlexFly, PrimeFly and business options, have route-dependent conditions. A package name alone does not establish refundability.

Some fares permit a refund with deductions; others restrict refunds to eligible taxes. Partly used tickets and no-shows have different conditions. Review your own ticket rather than applying a domestic fee or a different traveler’s refund outcome to your journey.

  • Ask for the cancellation deduction and the amount remaining.
  • Check whether the quoted amount includes refundable taxes.
  • Check separately purchased extras and any seller service charge.
  • If you still want to travel, compare the complete cost of changing dates with cancelling and buying again.

How do you cancel a Turkish Airlines booking?

For an eligible online transaction, begin in Turkish Airlines Manage Booking or the airline’s app. The following is a review checklist, rather than a promise that every ticket has an online cancellation button.

  1. Find the booking using the details on your confirmation. Our booking reference and ticket number guide explains the difference.
  2. Identify the exact flights and passengers you want to cancel. Include the return and any connections in your review.
  3. Open the available cancellation or refund option and read the proposed outcome before confirming.
  4. Check the amount, currency, deductions and payment method. Keep a copy of the quoted result.
  5. Proceed only when the scope and outcome match your request. Save the confirmation and request reference.

Group booking caution: Turkish’s online-channel conditions say cancellation/refund and change requests apply to all passengers on the reservation, with no individual-passenger transaction through that flow. Stop and seek a booking review if only one person needs to cancel.

The same conditions identify online-processing limitations for agency-issued tickets, partly flown itineraries, multi-city bookings and certain payment methods. If your booking cannot be processed online, assistance may be needed to arrange the appropriate ticket-handling channel.

What if Turkish Airlines cancels or changes your flight?

Turkish’s disruption guidance distinguishes cancellations, schedule changes, delays and extraordinary circumstances. If the airline cancels, it describes rebooking options or a full-refund request under applicable conditions when you decline rebooking. Partly used international tickets are calculated under international fare rules.

For an unsuitable schedule change, the guidance also describes changing flights or requesting a refund under the relevant conditions. Extraordinary circumstances have separate provisions; the entire ticket price may not be refundable and changes can involve fare differences.

Keep the airline’s notice and review the options attached to it. Ask whether your request is being handled as a disruption before selecting an ordinary voluntary cancellation. Refunds and any separate passenger-rights claim should be checked for the specific journey.

Your four-point cancellation checklist

  • Why? Record whether your plans changed or the airline disrupted the trip.
  • Options? Review the applicable fare rules, refund or rebooking offer.
  • Scope? Confirm passengers, flights, the amount and charges.
  • Record? Save the cancellation and refund reference.

How do you keep track of a refund?

Turkish’s online conditions link refunds to the payment method used and state that processing for other payment methods depends on the relevant institution’s arrangements. Online transaction confirmations are sent by email.

Keep a simple record of the request date, reference, approved amount and expected payment method. Ask for the expected processing period for your transaction. A submitted request, an approved refund and a posted payment are separate things to track; do not treat a cancellation screen alone as proof that the money has arrived.

If the stated period passes, follow up using the same reference and ask what stage the request has reached. Check the payment account connected to the booking and keep correspondence together.

Frequently asked questions

Does the online 24-hour offer cover a ticket bought through an agency?

That particular offer is limited to purchases through Turkish’s website or app. For another sales channel, have the terms that apply to your purchase checked rather than assuming this offer carries over.

Can I cancel one person from a shared reservation?

Check the transaction scope first. The online reservation-wide restriction explained above is particularly important for families and groups. Ask for an individual-passenger review before confirming anything that affects the whole booking.

Is skipping the flight the same as cancelling?

No. A no-show is governed by separate ticket conditions and can restrict the remaining value. If you know you will not travel, check your options before departure rather than simply missing the flight. Review the applicable fare conditions.

Can Flying Getaway help if I booked elsewhere?

Yes. Our team can help review your booking and explain possible next steps. What can be processed depends on the ticket, access to the booking and the applicable airline conditions. We explain any service charges before proceeding.
